Enterprise raises automation and integration actions to 250,000 a month and API calls to 25,000 a day, and adds a 99.9% uptime SLA. The AI credits come with the seats: monday.com shows them as part of each paid plan, and you can buy more.
A 10-person team on Standard pays 10 × $12 × 12 = $1,440 per year. The same team on Basic pays $1,080 per year and does not get the timeline. On Pro it is $2,280 per year.
The free plan is genuinely free, not a 14-day preview. The 14-day Pro trial is a separate offer. Items (the rows on a board) are capped on Free and unlimited from Basic.
Which monday.com plan to buy
- Stay on Free if two people can live with 3 boards. It is the right test before you pay.
- Basic if you need a third person or unlimited items, but not a timeline yet.
- Standard if you schedule work. This is the plan most small teams actually need.
- Pro if you need time tracking, advanced columns or private boards.
ClickUp's Unlimited plan is $7 per user per month billed yearly, with no 3-seat minimum, and the free plan does not cap the team at 2 people. Compare both on ClickUp vs monday.com, or see the full ClickUp pricing breakdown.
How monday.com counts seats
monday.com does not bill person by person. Its help center calls it bucket pricing: paid plans start at 3 seats, then go up in multiples of 5. A team of 4 buys the 5-seat plan. A team of 6 buys the 10-seat plan. The pricing page calculates prices up to 40 seats; above that, you request a quote.
That changes the real price per person. Six people on Standard pay for 10 seats: $1,440 a year, the same as a team of ten, or $240 per person instead of $144. The upside: at 6 people, the next four hires cost nothing extra. The downside: at 10 people, the eleventh moves you to 15 seats.
Adding one person too many does not lock anyone out. monday.com emails the admins three times over five days, then moves the account to the next bucket and charges for it. You can revert within 30 days, once the extra users are removed.
Two kinds of people do not need a paid seat. Viewers are read-only, free and unlimited from Basic up. Guests are people outside your company who only see the boards you invite them to. Guest access starts on Standard, and monday.com says guest billing depends on the plan.
What monday.com costs by team size

| 4 people | $540 (5 seats billed) | $720 (5 seats billed) | $1,140 (5 seats billed) |

The jumps come from the buckets as much as from the plan names. Moving 12 people from Basic to Standard adds $540 a year (15 seats × $3 × 12 months). Going from 10 to 11 people on Standard adds $720 a year, because 5 seats are added at once.
monday CRM, monday dev and monday service pricing
monday.com/pricing lists four products. Everything above is monday work management, the project product. The other three are priced separately. These are the per-seat monthly prices shown on the yearly view when we checked:
- monday CRM: Basic $12, Standard $17, Pro $28. Built for leads, contacts and deals. The plans also cap active contacts and deals, for example 10,000 on Standard and 100,000 on Pro.
- monday dev: Basic $9, Standard $12, Pro $20. For product and engineering teams. Standard adds the GitHub integration.
- monday service: Standard $31, Pro $45. There is no Basic plan. It is the ticketing product for support teams.
You can buy more than one product. Each can be on a different plan and seat count, but monday.com requires the same billing cycle, monthly or yearly, across the bundle.
How to pay less for monday.com
- Pay yearly. monday.com says yearly billing is 18% off, and the monthly plan is not discounted. A yearly plan is paid upfront, in one payment.
- Deactivate old users before you renew. Checkout greys out seat options smaller than the number of active users.
- Make read-only people viewers. They are free from Basic up.
- Run the 14-day Pro trial first. It shows whether you need time tracking and private boards, or whether Standard is enough.
- Ask for the nonprofit price if you qualify. monday.com offers discounted plans to qualified nonprofits.
- Use the 30-day window. If you cancel a yearly plan within 30 days of paying, monday.com refunds the remaining balance. After that, downgrades are not refunded.
monday.com accepts major credit cards (not debit cards) and PayPal. Enterprise orders above a minimum can pay by invoice. If per-seat cost is the real problem, ClickUp bills the exact number of members, with no buckets: see ClickUp pricing.

Is monday.com free?
Yes. The free plan is free forever for up to 2 seats, with up to 3 boards, 3 docs, 200+ templates and the iOS and Android apps. It is not a trial. Items are capped, and timeline, Gantt, automations and guest access start on paid plans.
What is the minimum number of seats?
Paid plans start at 3 seats. After that, monday.com sells seats in buckets of 5: a team of 4 buys 5 seats, and a team of 6 buys 10. A team of 2 can stay on the free plan. Basic for 3 seats is $27 per month billed yearly, or $324 per year.
Why does monday.com bill 10 seats for 6 people?
Pricing works per group of seats. monday.com's help center says plans start at 3 seats and then go up in multiples of 5, so 6, 7, 8 and 9 people all pay for 10 seats. Count the team before you pick a plan: 11 people pay for 15.
What happens if we add one person too many?
monday.com starts a 5-day countdown and emails the admins three times. If nobody removes the extra user, the account moves to the next seat bucket and is charged for it. You can go back to the previous plan within 30 days, once the active users fit it again.
Do viewers need a paid seat?
No. Viewers have read-only access and are free and unlimited from Basic up. Use them for clients or managers who only need to see the board. Guests, people outside your company who only see the boards you invite them to, start on Standard.

Is there a monday.com nonprofit discount?
monday.com offers discounted pricing for qualified nonprofits. The discount is requested from monday.com, not applied on the public price list.
